who are we ?

The Association des urbanistes et aménagistes municipaux du Québec - Québec Association of Municipal Urban Planners - is a non-profit organisation which regroups over three hundred urban planning professionals and managers who are all employees of local and regional municipalities in Québec.

Its main mission is to facilitate dialogue, discussions and meetings among its members on municipal urban planning issues (urban planning, zoning by-laws, urban design, economic development, heritage regulation and development, landscape planning). The Association organises annual events, one-day study sessions and field trips, with themes related to municipal current events, management, planning and development.

The AUAMQ, via its Urb-Info publication, has continued to reflect upon and position itself on the future of urbanism in Québec, the role of municipal urban planners, planning tools used in urban management, territorial organisation as well as local fiscal issues.

The Association is staffed by volunteer members. Funding comes essentially from annual contributions from municipal members and the Association events. It is also supported by a contribution from the ministère des Affaires municipales, du Sport et du Loisir du Québec – Québec Municipal Affairs Department.
